We’re told to “do”

We’re told to do. Do your best. Do the chores. Do the work. But don’t do too much. Right?

What is “too much”? When is the “doing” over?

If you ask me, it never ends, but what we’re doing can change.

Rest is a verb. You can “do” rest.

Resting is your body and brain doing the repairs it needs for recovery.

Resting is the refreshing of your mind.

It’s ingraining what you learned from the day so you can reference it tomorrow.

Resting is necessary to be your best self for the people you care about most.

However, don’t put off the self-improvement and call it rest.

Take your rest. You need it.

Then, go learn something new.

Get some exercise — even a short walk to see the blooming flowers on your street can reset your mind.

Stretch your hips out so that future you still has fantastic mobility and quality of life.

Eat nutrients your body needs. I don’t care if your protein is coming from string cheese and lunch meat and your fiber comes from Olipop sodas. Feed yourself.

View the exercise, the meals, the learning, the effort AND the rest as “doing” so that you become a better you every day.
